The Maltese is one of the oldest breeds in Europe. It was probably introduced to Malta by Phoenicician traders sailing around the Mediterrarean, and then there is evedence of similar dogs being admired by civilizations such as the Ancient Greeks. The Romans also kept these lovely small size dogs as pets, and they were popular in the Middle Ages......and still are!!!!

A neat little dog with a profuse white coat, only white not any other dominent colour!!! Long, straight and silky. Although occasional faint lemon (Champaine) markings appear.

The Maltese weighs up to 3 kg. There is not a so called miniature or teacup size.

"Do you think I can fit into this shoe ?"

They are suitable for most or just about all house holds. A Maltese interacts well with other dogs and loves children.Their ability to easily adapt to their surroudings, good travalers and their lovely tempraments make them exelent companions also to older citizens.

Maltese and Yorkies were of my first dogs in 1981. Of all these breeds the Maltese with its doll like face and soft eyes will always be my favourite. My four legged son, grew up with our children, and was part of our family for 19 years. He was 19 when we had to have him put to sleep.
