Labrador Retriever

We are the proud owners of good Yellow, chocolate and black  LABRADOR RETRIEVERS.

Our first Chocolate Labrador Retriever we bought from Dirnelia Labradors in 2007.  Although we bred beautiful Labrador before, we only learned the importance of Hip Dysplasia Testing from Dirk and Cornelia Bakkes, at that time the proud owners of some of the best Chocolate Labradors in the country.

After a lot of research Dirk imported two males from the UK. Sersant - Boothgates Mud Wrestler of Dirnelia   -   and    Majoor  - Carriegame Bobby Dazzler of Dirlenia.  Under Dirk's love and care they both got champion status in the showring.

Sadly Dirk passed away in May 2010.  In February 2011 we bought some for Dirnelia's breeding dogs, when Cornelia decided to keep only a few of these chocolates for herself.  During October 2011 we travelled the thousand plus kilometers once more to fetch Majoor and the last of Dirk's proud and joy.

We want to thank Cornelia for the trust she's put in us to care for these magnificent animals.  We also wish her a healthy, happy future as she's moving to live with one of her daughters.  It is a sad loss to all doglovers and the Labrador owner's community to loose two people with such  compasion for and knowledge of the Labrador.

Cornelia Bakkes  - a dear friend.

Our yellow male Flash also comes for Dirnelia Labradors.   He is from Ailsacraig Labradors bred by Mrs. Magaret Bell.

All our Labs are now HD tested and most of them eye tested as well.

We also have a black puppy available occasionally.

                            ------------------------------------------------------

The Labrador Retriever is instanly recognizable. Though to have originated in Greenland, he is a stocky built dog: his coat is short ans hard to the touch; it is entirely weatherproof and bisically drip-dry.  At one time the black coat was the best known, but now yellow (not golden) became more widely seen. Today the chocolate, also called liver is very popular.  The Labrador stands as high as 56-57 cm  (female: 54-56 cm), which is not very taal, but he is exstremely solid.

Another characteristic is his relatively short, thick-coated "otter" tail.  He is a multi-talented dog, being much favoured as a guide dog for the blind.  He is also useful in drug-searching and has been used by the army as a canine mine-detector.

Undoubtedly his greatest skill is as a retriever from water.

The Labrador seems capable of taking all the knocks of a rough-and-tumble family, which is why he rates so high as a household member!!!!  His temperament is such that he does not seems to take offence at any insult.  He must have exercise and, although he can live in town surroundings, he should not be deprived of regular, long walks.

Who does not want to cuddle the teddy-bear soft body of a Lab pup and have him as a friend????
