Miniature Smooth Haired Dachshund

The dachshund breed comes in six varieties.  They vary in weight from under 5 kg in the case of the  miniatures,  to 9-12 kg in the case of the standards.  They also vary in coat-type being devided into three: Smooth-haired,  Long-haired and Wire-haired.

All six varieties are similar in body-shape, being low to the ground.  Exercise is accepted readily by all, but they are not over demanding no this matter. 

Temperamentally they are sharp as far as acting as sentinels around the family premises and possessions is concerned, and they will not hesitate to use their teeth if pushed.   They are loud barkers, and the smaller sizes have a tendency to yap, but they stop once the intruder has been pointed out.

The Dachshunds make excellent companion pets and deservedly attract a large following.
